Latham, NY (December 12, 2018) – Police in Colonie responded to a call on Tuesday night, December 11, concerning a woman who was tragically struck and killed by a motor vehicle. The accident was reported to have taken place at the intersection of Route 2 and Swatling Road.
According to police, the woman who is believed to be 61, was walking in the area of the aforementioned intersection when she was hit by a vehicle for reasons that have not yet been determined. A 57-year-old man from Troy was stated to have been the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision.
The crash was initially reported at approximately 7:15 p.m.after the driver called 911 to report hitting the woman. Emergency medical crews responded to the scene of the accident but were sadly unable to save her. The driver remained at the scene and drugs and alcohol have been ruled out as possible causes of the crash.
No further information has been made available as police are continuing to investigate the events that led to the incident.
