Coxsackie, NY (December 11, 2018) – A fatal fire has been reported to have occurred in the village of Coxsackie on Saturday night, December 8, according to authorities who now understand the cause of the incident. According to state police, the fire began at around 7:00 p.m. after a resident of the home was attempting to solder pipes together.
The fire was initially reported to have broken out for unknown reasons on the third floor of a home at 53 Washington Avenue. 74-year-old Larry Connolly, who had been a lifetime firefighter with DMHamilton in Coxsackie, was stated to have tragically lost his life in the fire. Connolly’s wife suffered smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene by emergency medical crews.
The husband and wife were the only occupants of the home when the fire began, according to police. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
