Bayside, Queens, NY (December 7, 2018) – A fire broke out at a home on East Hampton Boulevard Thursday night, December 6, that resulted in the death of one individual. According to authorities, that person, who had already been identified as 59-year-old Ismael Sylla, was a handicapped father who died while trapped in the basement bedroom of the home.
The fire was reported as under control by around 10:45 p.m., however, at the time of the original report, the cause of the blaze was still under investigation. New information states that the fire was caused by an electrical issue.
According to authorities, Sylla’s children attempted to rescue him before firefighters did the same, but the smoke proved to be overwhelming at the time. Tragically, Sylla was pronounced dead due to the injuries he suffered during the fire.
No further information has been provided at this time.
