Riverdale, NY (December 2, 2018) – An elderly woman lost her life in a serious and fatal pedestrian accident that took place in the Bronx a day after her own birthday. The accident happened yesterday, December 1, around 11:30 a.m.
Police responded to the area in front of the College of Mount Saint Vincent. At the time, 89-year-old Beatrice Kahn was crossing Riverdale Avenue when she was struck by an SUV turning left from another road. Kahn was immediately transported to the St. Barnabas Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The 35-year-old driver of the vehicle that struck her remained at the scene. Neighbors told police that the incident took place at a dangerous intersection where people are known for speeding.
Police continue to investigate at this time.
