Scotia, NY (November 29, 2018) – The 70-year-old woman who was tragically struck and killed by a motor vehicle on Wednesday night, November 28, has been identified by police as Kathleen Allen. The accident happened at around 6:40 p.m., according to authorities.
Police reported that Allen had been attempting to walk across Mohawk Avenue, in the vicinity of Xtra Mart when she was hit by an SUV. The operator of the SUV has now been named as, Robert Delamater, of Scotia.
Police have reason to believe that Allen may have been wearing dark-colored clothing at the time of the incident, which would have made her difficult to see at night. Allen was immediately transported to Ellis Hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries. Sadly, she was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival.
Delamater was reported to have been unharmed during the accident and has fully cooperated with authorities. Speed is not believed to be a factor in this collision.
Police are continuing their investigation into this incident.
