Orchard Park, NY (November 27, 2018) – A hit-and-run driver is actively being searched for by police after the suspect struck and injured a deputy outside of New Era Field in Orchard Park on Sunday, November 25. The accident took place on Big Tree Road and Route 219 after the Buffalo Bills game, according to authorities.
The Erie County Sheriff’s Office stated that the deputy had been directing traffic at the aforementioned intersection when he was hit and injured by a truck. The deputy was reported to have suffered an arm injury as he was quickly taken to a hospital in Buffalo for treatment.
The suspect’s vehicle has been identified as a dark-colored Ford F-250 pickup truck with a hunting-related decal covering the rear window. Deputies stated that the pickup continued east on Big Tree Road after striking the victim, and then made a left turn onto Route 219 northbound.
No further details have been made available at this time, as police are asking the public to come forward with any information on the driver of the vehicle involved.
