Midtown Manhattan, NY (November 27, 2018) – A two-alarm fire was reported to have broken out in the basement of a building in Midtown on Tuesday morning, November 27, resulting in the injuries of four people. The incident, which has been classified as an electrical fire, was reported to have started at around 6:15 a.m.
The fire broke out in the basement of the building located on East 54th Street, according to officials who responded to the call. Authorities stated that elevated carbon monoxide levels had been detected in as many as four buildings in the area, one of which is residential.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames, and carbon monoxide levels significantly dropped due to the ventilation of the buildings.
