Wallkill, NY (November 26, 2018) – A bus driver for Wallkill School District suffered injuries after her bus overturned on Quaker Street while driving to pick up middle and high school students on Monday morning, November 26. According to the Plattekill Fire Department, the bus rolled over on the Orange/Ulster county line in Wallkill.
Dispatchers sent officials from the Plattekill, as well as the Cronomer Valley Fire Department to the scene of the crash, located at around 180 Quaker Street at approximately 7:11 a.m. Emergency personnel arrived to discover the female bus driver trapped in the vehicle. She was the only one on the bus at the time of the crash.
After approximately 31 minutes, the injured victim was pulled from the bus and immediately transported to a landing zone that was set up by the Modena Fire Department. The woman was then airlifted to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla to undergo treatment.
The extent of the victims’ injuries is not clear at this time, and the cause of the accident is currently being investigated by authorities.
