Syracuse, NY (November 25, 2018) – Early on Sunday morning, November 25, police responded to call about a motor vehicle accident that resulted from a wrong-way driver on Interstate 81 in Syracuse. The crash occurred at an unspecified time after a car entered onto the interstate in the wrong direction and proceeded to collide with a delivery truck.
According to Syracuse Police, the driver of the car was heading north in the southbound lane of the interstate when it crashed into the delivery truck. The driver of the truck who is believed to have sustained at least unknown minor injuries, called 911 to report the crash that left the driver of the car unresponsive.
The Syracuse Fire Department arrived on the scene and extricated the seriously injured driver before transporting him to Upstate University Hospital. The patient was reported to have sustained fractures to his collarbone, pelvis, and lower leg.
The identity of the driver has not been released at this time as police are still investigating the events that led to the crash.
