Binghamton, NY (November 25, 2018) – A 62-year-old man is reported to be in critical condition after being struck by two vehicles on Saturday night, November 24, according to New York State Police. The injurious accident was stated to have taken place at around 7:05 p.m. in the vicinity of 609 Court Street.
Authorities stated that a female driver had been traveling west toward Binghamton when she swerved to avoid striking a man who was walking along the roadway. Unfortunately, she was unable to avoid contact completely as she hit the man with her side mirror, knocking him to the ground.
The victim who has been identified as, Glen A. Shoen had remained on the ground after the initial collision when he was then struck by a second vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle did not stop to offer assistance but was stated to have fled southbound from the scene.
Shoen was immediately transported to Wilson Hospital to be treated for his injuries. He is currently listed in critical condition in the intensive care unit. Route 11 was shut down for several hours as police began their initial investigation.
