Glen Cove, NY (November 22, 2018) – Police are currently searching for the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed an elderly man on Wednesday night, November 21, and then fled the scene. The accident was reported to have occurred at approximately 11:15 p.m. in Glen Cove, according to authorities.
The victim who has only been identified as a 72-year-old man was attempting to cross Brewster Street when he was struck by a vehicle for reasons that are currently unknown. The vehicle that hit the pedestrian has been verified as a light-colored BMW. The driver of that vehicle did not remain at the scene to assist the victim or alert authorities.
Paramedics were quickly on the scene along with police to render aid to the severely injured party. Sadly, the wounded man was pronounced dead due to the impact of the accident. No further details have been provided at this time.
