Fairmount, NY (November 19, 2018) – A house fire Sunday morning, November 18, was reported to have resulted in the death of one man who was inside the home at the time the blaze occurred. According to the Camillus Police Department, the fire was reported at approximately 8:13 a.m. when a neighbor called 911 to report seeing smoke billowing from the house.
Police stated that 55-year-old Donald J. Insel was the only one home at the time the fire broke out at 318 Myron Road. Firefighters were quickly dispatched to the blaze near the intersection of Myron Road and Jones Street in Fairmount where multiple crews battled the flames. The majority of the fire was reported to have been extinguished by 8:50 a.m.
Insel was stated to be the only victim as he tragically died in the fire. There has been no information released as to the cause of this incident as it remains under investigation at this time.
