Amherst, NY – Pedestrian Struck and Killed on Maple Road

Amherst, NY (November 19, 2018) – On Sunday afternoon, November 18, police reported that a pedestrian had been fatally struck by a motor vehicle while attempting to walk across Maple Road in Amherst. The tragic accident was stated to have occurred at around 4:30 p.m.

68-year-old Susan Lowes, of Amherst, was identified by police as the victim of the accident which happened at the precise location of 2351 Maple Road. The deadly incident took place as Lowes was struck by a vehicle being operated by a 62-year-old woman from Williamsville while attempting to cross the road.

Amherst Police were immediately dispatched to the scene along with local emergency medical personnel to assess the accident. Lowes was quickly transported to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital where she sadly succumbed to her injuries a short time later. There has been no further information released in regards to this incident.

Police are actively involved in an ongoing investigation.
