Bronx, NY (November 17, 2018) – A mother was killed and two of her children were hospitalized after they were involved in an accident with a truck on the Major Deegan Expressway early this morning, November 17.
The accident happened around 7 a.m. The van was being driven by a mother, who rear-ended the back of a truck. The mother died at the scene of the accident.
The mother reportedly had many different types of scrap metal and construction materials in the back of the van. Two children were seated in the back of the van next to the scrap metal, who were identified as a 14-year-old and 12-year-old. The two received serious injuries that might have stemmed from all the metal being thrown during the impact. They were rushed to the hospital in critical condition, as well as a 28-year-old passenger in the front who suffered a leg injury.
The driver of the truck stayed at the scene of the accident. At this time, no charges have been filed.
The accident is still under investigation at this time.
