Wantagh, NY (November 14, 2018) – Police have reported an accident involving a Town of Hempstead sanitation truck that hit and killed a worker on Wednesday afternoon, November 14. The accident was stated to have occurred at around 1:35 p.m. in Wantagh, according to local authorities.
The deadly incident was reported on Bunker Avenue when the worker was hit by the truck while in the street. Police along with emergency medical personnel were quickly called to the scene in order to evaluate the accident and render aid to the victim. Unfortunately, the worker was pronounced dead, although it has not been stated as to whether or not the victim passed away at the scene or in the hospital.
The identity of the deceased victim has not been released, likely in order to provide time to notify family members. No further information has been provided at this time as the incident is actively under investigation.
