Ronkonkoma, NY (November 8, 2018) – A man who was tragically killed in a collision Tuesday afternoon, November 6, has been identified as 28-year-old John Palmer, of Maybrook. Palmer was reported to have been driving a 2014 Freightliner Truck when he collided with a 2006 Kia Sportage at around 12:15 p.m.
According to authorities, Palmer collided with the Sportage in the vicinity of Exit 60 in Lake Ronkonkoma. The impact of the collision sent Palmer’s truck off the road where he hit the Ronkonkoma Avenue overpass. Police and emergency personnel were called to the scene where Palmer was tragically pronounced dead upon their arrival.
The driver of the Sportage, a 30-year-old man from Holtsville was reported to have been unharmed in the accident. Authorities impounded both vehicles involved in the crash in order to conduct safety checks as part of an effort to determine liability.
There has been no further information reported in regards to the cause of this accident. Police are currently conducting a full investigation into the accident.
