Wantagh, NY (November 6, 2018) – A flatbed truck that was hauling a car collided with a tanker truck Tuesday morning, November 6, according to authorities in Wantagh. Police stated that the crash occurred in the westbound lanes of Sunrise Highway at a time that was not specified.
According to authorities, the cause of the crash is currently unknown but it is believed to have resulted in at least minor injuries. However, the extent of injuries is unclear at this time. One of the truck drivers involved in the crash was reported to have fled the scene following the accident.
The middle and right lanes of the highway were closed down between Wantagh Avenue and Old Mill Road. It is also uncertain as to whether or not the injured party had to be transported to a hospital or evaluated at the scene. Police have not said whether or not the driver who left the scene has been located.
Police are likely continuing an investigation into this incident.
