Chili, NY (November 5, 2018) – A serious collision between a three-wheel ATV and a Jeep Wrangler resulted in the injuries of two teenagers on Saturday night, November 3. The accident happened at around 8:30 p.m. on Chili Center Coldwater Road in the town of Chili.
Police stated that a 16-year-old boy was operating the ATV along with a 17-year-old passenger when they attempted to pass a 2017 Jeep Wrangler. The Jeep was in the northbound lane of the roadway and attempting to make a U-turn at the time of the accident.
The teenage driver was reported to have sideswiped the Jeep as the jeep was turning, and were subsequently ejected from the ATV as a result of the impact. Police and emergency medical personnel were called to the scene to help the injured victims and understand the cause of the accident.
The 17-year-old passenger on the ATV was immediately transported to a local hospital with what has been considered a serious head injury. The driver of the ATV suffered minor injuries in the accident and was issued several vehicle and traffic citations. The occupants of the Jeep were unharmed in the incident.
No further information has been provided at this time as police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
