Wilna, NY (November 3, 2018) – On Wednesday, October 31, police were called to the scene of a car accident that caused a vehicle driver to be ejected from the car. The accident took place at the intersection of County Route 41 and County Route 40.
Investigation revealed that the accident took place around 2 p.m. when a Jeep operated by David Baker, 22, was traveling southbound on County Route 41. He exited the roadway on the western shoulder and struck a steel marker in the road. The driver’s side door fell off the vehicle at this time.
When the vehicle continued onward, it swiped a utility pole and a “share the road” traffic sign before it went back on the road. The vehicle failed to stop at the intersection, then striking an embankment, according to police.
Baker was immediately ejected from the vehicle. He was taken to the hospital and remains in critical condition at this time. The accident is still under investigation.
