Watertown, NY (November 2, 2018) – A head-on collision between two police officers took place in the parking lot behind the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building located at 751 Waterman Drive on Friday morning, November 2. According to police, the crash happened at around 5:30 a.m. while one officer was leaving the station and another was arriving.
Detective Lt. Joseph R. Donoghue Sr. stated that the officer who was leaving the station was operating a department utility vehicle as the other officer involved was arriving for duty in a privately owned pickup truck. For reasons that have not been elaborated, the two vehicles met in a head-on collision that resulted in injuries to both drivers.
Both officers were admitted to Samaritan Medical Center after complaining of pain due to the impact of the accident. The current conditions of the victims have not been released at this time.
The police are currently investigating the events that led to the collision.
