Beekmantown, NY (November 3, 2018) – On Tuesday, Police reported that two men died and two others were injured when they jumped forty feet from a burning helicopter. The accident happened after the helicopter was caught in power lines and caught fire.
The accident took place in Beekmantown, according to police. The two men who lost their lives were quickly identified as 56-year-old (and pilot) Robert Hoban Jr. and 30-year-old Jeremy Kearns. The other two people who were seriously injured were identified as 34-year-old Scott Fabia and 30-year-old Benjamin McAllister.
The four men had been contractors who were working on the power lines in the area. The accident took place around 4:15 p.m. while they were installing pulleys. Witnesses rushed to help the victims and give life-saving measures. One of the victims was badly injured with breathing problems, chest pains, and a serious open wound.
The accident is still being investigated at this time.
