Webster, NY (October 24, 2018) – While on the job, the driver for a construction company struck a power line with the boom of the truck and suffered injuries as a result on Tuesday afternoon, October 23. The accident happened in the early afternoon in Webster and ultimately left around 4,600 people without power.
The accident occurred when the driver was raising the boom of a cement truck and for unknown reasons, struck a power line outside a home that is under construction on Shallow Brook Terrace. The worker was reported to have suffered a severe shock from electricity during the incident.
The Webster Fire Department arrived on the scene of the accident where they found the injured driver was alert, although he required transportation to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment. The identity of the victim has not been released, although he is a man estimated to be in his 50’s.
Power was restored to all homes and businesses in the Webster area of Monroe County by 4:30 p.m. No more information has been made available at this time. The incident is currently being investigated.
