Melville, NY (October 21, 2018) – In Melville, a driver was charged in an eight-car accident that took place on the Long Island Expressway. The driver was driving drunk at the time of the accident.

Police have charged 45-year-old Suzanne Butler in the accident, who was arraigned yesterday and released without bail. The accident happened around 10:30 p.m. on Friday night, October 19, near Exit 49 in Melville.

The accident took place after a car fire was clogging traffic. When the vehicles slowed down, two cars collided, which led to the eight-car pileup. A minivan skidded and was wedged under an oil truck. Butler had been driving the minivan.

Butler and five other people received injuries in the accident.
