North White Plains, NY (October 19, 2018) – Authorities have reported injuries sustained by two Metro-North employees who were hurt after one of their personal vehicles exploded on Friday afternoon, October 19. The injurious explosion took place at around 1:00 p.m. in North White Plains.
Emergency medical professionals along with police were called to the scene of the explosion that occurred in the rail yard lot on Haarlem Avenue. Emergency crews were reported to have transported both injured workers to Westchester Medical Center, according to an MTA spokesperson.
Officials stated that train services were not impacted by the incident. No further details have been provided in regards to this event or the cause of the explosion. MTA police and the fire department said that they are currently continuing an investigation into the incident.
