Bloomville, NY (October 18, 2018) – A section of Highway 10 had to be closed down for hours following a two-car crash on Tuesday afternoon, October 17. The crash was reported to police at around 1:30 p.m. concerning a motor vehicle accident that took place on Highway 10 in the vicinity of Passuello Road.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies along with the Bloomville Fire Department arrived on the scene assisted by Cooperstown Medical Transport and Delhi Fire and EMS. Deputies stated that Michael F. Carey, 54, of Nanuet, had been heading south on the highway when he attempted to make a left turn. Carey’s vehicle was then struck by another southbound vehicle being operated by Barent V. Rossman Jr., of Stamford.
Following the collision, Rossman was quickly taken to O’Connor Hospital to be evaluated for his injuries. Angela D. Smith, 53, of Stamford, a passenger in Rossman’s vehicle, was immediately transported to O’Connor Hospital with a leg injury.
Rossman was reported to have been issued traffic citations for failure to keep right, unreasonable and prudent speed, and unsafe lane change. No further information has been released at this time.
