Mount Vernon, NY (October 13, 2018) – An 87-year-old woman was struck and killed in a serious pedestrian accident that happened on October 12 around 5 p.m. Her name has not been released.
At the time, the pedestrian was crossing Fleetwood Avenue in Mount Vernon when she was suddenly struck by a truck turning left off of West Grand Street. The pedestrian was immediately taken to the Jacobi Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
The driver’s name has not yet been released. They are not expected to be charged for the accident.
Witnesses spoke with police and said that the street is dangerous and has posed an issue for pedestrians on many levels.
