Lansing, NY (October 11, 2018) – An accident was reported to have occurred between a bicyclist and a large commercial tractor-trailer on Wednesday afternoon, October 10. The fatal accident took place in the 3000 block of North Triphammer Road at approximately 4:10 p.m.
According to authorities, a large commercial truck and a bicyclist were involved in the crash as they were both traveling south on North Triphammer Road. For reasons that have not yet been determined, the tractor-trailer and the bicyclist collided on the roadway.
Police along with emergency medical crews were called to the scene where the bicyclist was rushed to a local hospital. The bicyclist was confirmed on Thursday morning, October 11, to have died from the injuries they sustained. Neither the name of the victim nor the truck driver involved has been made available at this time.
No charges have been filed against the truck operator and no more information is currently available. The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office is in charge of the investigation into this incident.
