Canandaigua, NY (October 11, 2018) – A crash in Canandaigua left one person hospitalized with head and neck injuries on Tuesday afternoon, October 9. The collision which was reported to have involved three vehicles took place on County Road 28 at around 4:00 p.m., according to authorities.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the site of the crash that occurred in the vicinity of Emerson Road. Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies confirmed that 34-year-old Eric Rivas and 21-year-old Alec Brown were traveling south on County Road 28 in a minivan when they yielded to a flashing light at the intersection. A vehicle driven by 51-year-old John Schreiber failed to slow down and rear-ended the minivan.
The impact of the collision caused the minivan to flip over onto its roof. Both vehicles then crashed into a Jeep that had been stopped at a stop sign on Emerson Road. Brown was subsequently reported to have suffered the most severe injuries as he was quickly transported to a local hospital via Mercy Flight for possible head and neck injuries.
Schreiber, along with his wife and son drove themselves to the hospital to be evaluated for rather minor injuries. The driver of the Jeep was injured during the accident.
