Brooklyn, NY (October 9, 2018) – Authorities reported an accident overnight on Sunday, October 7, involving an off-duty NYPD Sergeant. The 47-year-old victim was riding his motorcycle in the Canarsie area of Brooklyn at around 9:12 p.m. when he became involved in a collision with another vehicle.
According to police, the motorcyclist collided with a Nissan sedan that was making a left turn off Remsen Avenue onto Greenwood Road. Emergency crews were quick to arrive on the scene where they found the injured rider suffering from serious head trauma. The victim was immediately rushed to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center to be treated.
Last updates stated that the injured motorcyclist remains listed in critical condition at this time. The 26-year-old driver of the sedan was reported to have remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. That person was also taken to Kings County Hospital with injuries considered non-life-threatening.
No further details have been made available, and authorities are currently looking into the events that caused this collision.
