Glen Oaks, NY (October 3, 2018) – A 77-year-old woman has tragically lost her life after crashing into a beer delivery truck Tuesday morning, October 2, in Glen Oaks. Police are uncertain as to what caused the incident but stated that the victim, Dianne Griffin, of Queens, may have had a medical episode causing her to lose control of the vehicle.
Griffin was driving a Mazda CX5 along 265th Street near Hillside Avenue at around 11:25 a.m. when she slammed into the delivery truck that was stationary at the time. The driver of the truck was not charged and tested negative for alcohol.
Emergency medical personnel were immediately on the scene where they attempted to save the victim. Griffin was promptly rushed to Long Island Jewish Hospital to be treated for her injuries. Unfortunately, she was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
No further information has been made available at this time, and authorities are currently looking into the cause of the crash.
