Sterling, NY: Police Search for Man After Rollover- Possible Injuries

Sterling, NY (October 2, 2018) – The driver of a vehicle who overturned his car during a crash on Monday afternoon, October 1, was reported to have fled the scene on foot. According to New York State police, the man involved said that he cannot be involved in anything before he fled into the woods.
35-year-old Joseph M. Grant fled the vicinity of 1438 Route 104A in Sterling before rolling his vehicle several times on the south side of the roadway. Grant fled the scene immediately, and whether or not anyone else was involved in the crash is currently unknown.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m. Albeit, the suspect fled on foot into the woods and led an hours-long search. Police from Wolcott and Auburn along with Cayuga County and Wayne County Sheriff’s Offices responded to the call. Local roads were closed down as a canine unit came in to help search for the suspect.
Possible charges for leaving the scene of an accident which may or may not have involved any other parties is pending. In the event that someone else was injured during the crash, Grant could be facing felony charges.
