New York, NY (October 1, 2018) – A crash occurred early Sunday morning, September 30, in the Bronx that left one man dead and one woman in critical condition, according to police. The fatal accident took place at approximately 2:30 a.m. on the Hutchinson River Parkway northbound and Co-op City Boulevard.
The NYPD stated that a 2009 Subaru sedan had been heading north on Hutchinson River Parkway when it crashed into a 2007 BMW. The BMW was traveling in the same direction at the time of the collision.
Following the initial crash, the Subaru continued and only came to a stop when it slammed into a tree. Emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene shortly after the accident to assist the victims. The 22-year-old male driver of the Subaru was immediately transported to Jacobi Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. One unidentified female passenger in that vehicle has been listed in critical condition at this time.
The driver of the BMW, a 33-year-old woman, and her passenger, 48, remained at the scene of the accident and were reported to be unharmed. No further information has been released and police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the events of the crash.
