Chestnut Ridge, NY (October 1, 2018) – A man from Washingtonville was tragically killed Saturday, September 29, after being struck by a motor vehicle on Scotland Hill Road. The Rockland County collision took place when a 67-year-old man from Spring Valley, who was driving a 2009 Hyundai struck the pedestrian who was standing behind a 2014 Ford that was parked on the side of the road.
Town of Ramapo police reported the accident that occurred while the driver of the Hyundai was heading south on Scotland Hill Road through the village of Chestnut Ridge. The Ford was ultimately pushed into another pedestrian, a 61-year-old man from Washingtonville, as well.
Rockland paramedics were immediately called to the scene to help the two injured victims. Both men were treated at the scene before being transported to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. The first pedestrian struck was identified as 28-year-old Sean Spillman of Washingtonville. Unfortunately, Spillman died of his injuries a short time later. The 61-year-old unidentified pedestrian was released after being treated for minor injuries.
The driver responsible for the accident was said to have remained at the scene and no charges have been filed against him. Although, the police confirmed that are continuing an investigation into the incident.
