Emory University graduate dies in New York pedestrian accident

Posted on Wednesday, August 10th, 2016 at 8:37 pm

The New York Police Department has reported that one man lost his life after he was struck by a vehicle as he was crossing the 12th Avenue crosswalk between W 45th and 46th Street on the 12th Avenue portion of West Side Highway in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of New York City on Sunday, July 31 at around 2:17 a.m.

The victim was identified as 22-year-old Jack Koval, who was a graduate of Atlanta, Georgia-based Emory University and who was working as an analyst in New York City-based investment banking and private equity investment firm Centerview Partners, according to an obituary in the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.

Emergency medical responders found Koval lying unconscious on the street after the accident. Police said the driver who hit Koval was found to be sober by a breathalyzer test.

Attorneys with Hach & Rose, LLP want to remind people to be careful around busy roads as accidents involving pedestrians can be much more tragic. Our thoughts go out to the victim and his loved ones.
