The Schodack Police Department in New York reported that a woman and her horse were victims of a hit-and-run accident that occurred on Burden Lake Road at around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31.

According to 26-year-old Kait Kennedy, who reported the hit-and-run personal injury auto accident, she was riding her four-year-old horse, Cali, along the road back to Pine Ridge Farm when a silver minivan began to edge up behind them. The driver was beside Kennedy and her horse when he allegedly rolled down his window and yelled, “It’s illegal to ride on the road,” and began honking his horn. Kennedy said the sound caused Cali to jump into the road. The car hit them, causing both the horse and Kennedy to fall. “At that point, I was looking around and the car was driving away.” Authorities are still trying to identify the man responsible for the accident.
