Rodolfo Vasquez-Galian, a construction worker, was killed on September 23rd while working on a construction site on West 37th Street in Manhattan, according to an NBC4 report. Vasquez-Galian was struck by a falling concrete slab and killed immediately. The construction workers were in the process of excavating soil from a foundation wall when a piece of concrete supporting another foundation wall dislodged and hit Vasquez-Galian.
Neighbors in surrounding apartment and office buildings were asked to evacuate while the scene was assessed. The construction site is one of many in the city as new hotels and apartments continue to be built. Neighbors said that all they hear in anymore is the sound of construction, and they are concerned about the amount of construction going on around them.
The lawyers at Hach & Rose, LLP, send their deepest condolences to the Vasqez-Galian family. Unfortunately, construction site injuries and deaths are all too common in New York. Our lawyers are prepared to represent those injured while working on construction sites.
