Why Are Elderly People More Susceptible to Injuries?

Attorney John Blyth discusses the factors that increase the risk of an elderly person sustaining an injury in an accident.

The percentage of seniors in this country continues to grow each year and that leads to an increase in hospitalization and emergency care for the elderly.

Often, it’s the result of a fall or some other type of accident which causes injury to an elderly person.

When elderly people have a fall they have an increased risk of injury especially fractures due to osteoporosis and weakened bones.

There are several factors which can cause a person to be susceptible to falls: poor balance, poor eyesight, or just a lack of coordination. All of these things can increase the risk of an elderly person being in an accident and sustaining an injury.
